I am not particularly green fingered but my Mum was a florist and gardener and I think that has really influenced my love of nature and the patterns you find within it. I also remember my Dad telling me about Fibonacci at a young age, he was more methodical and a big fan of numbers, he loved interior design and architecture. Its a great combo, the beauty of numbers and science. I am really drawn to art and design that takes inspiration from nature. I am constantly looking at ancient Egyptian architecture, its so beautiful and graphic.
What is your morning ritual before you starting ceramics?
I am not a morning person so when I am doing ceramics I tend to stay in bed for as long as I can, usually 9am, make a coffee and start working in my pyjamas, I will work late in to the night if I have no other commitments. I get totally lost in it.
Describe your style in 5 words
If you had an extra hour in the day what would you do?
I would probably find myself carving a pot, and it would accidentally turn in to 3 hours.
Favourite way to style flowers at home?
This is something my Mum would redo if I did have a go at it, I would try to be systematic about it but it tends to never look as I had hoped.
Which hashtag should we be exploring right now?
The #porcelain or #glazing, or anything about ceramic materials and methods, there is an endless fountain of knowledge and information online - I have learnt so much from fellow artists, designers and potters - also #gioponti is never ending wonderful interiors.
Top tip offs - your three favourite Insta feeds that we should check out?
www.instagram.com/willis82/ My brother is an incredible typographer and artist. Everything he does amazes me, even more so that he knocks the pieces up in moments at home.
www.instagram.com/natgeo/ is a constant source of information and beauty.
www.instagram.com/music_from_memory/ for beautiful lost music.
How did you get into the world of Instagram?
As far as I remember it was just a new exciting thing to waste my time on, it quickly turned in to a bit of an unhealthy obsession, I try to keep it to just creative work and found inspiration these days. If you follow the right people it's a wonderful source of visual inspiration.
Favourite online shopping discovery?
I am trying to cut down on my spending habit, I have a weakness for beautiful tools and clothes. In a bid to be a bit more eco friendly with my wardrobe I am trying to shop 2nd hand and vintage. ChiChiRaRa is my favourite place, the owner Heather owns a beautiful shop in East Dulwich but posts all of her items on Instagram: www.instagram.com/chichirara_vintageshop
If you could swap wardrobes with anyone, who’s would you take?www.instagram.com/deargolden/ This is a shop, so it might be cheating as an answer, but it is amazing.
When our favourite Peach invited us to be part of her new venture, how could we resist decorating the North's most eclectic home with flowers? Take a peek at the party.
