This time, our Vela Loves interview is with Rowena, from @grainandfeather.
Curator and creator of one of (in our opinion) the most beautiful Instagram feeds, brimming with the most beautiful blooms, styling inspo and moody photography shots that inspire us at the Vela studio on a daily basis.
Rowena talks to us about inspirations, where she gets her ideas, curating a beautiful home, and words to live by.
What inspired Grain and Feather?
Grain and Feather is inspired by lots of different things, not all of which is very obvious from looking at my Instagram feed, packaging design, colour combinations, the seasons, the English countryside and obviously, flowers.
Favourite way to style flowers at home?
I love an arrangement with lots of foliage and a slightly wild side!
Home is …
Anywhere associated with my childhood, particularly the countryside we used to roam around in.
Motto - do you have one?
I don't necessarily have a motto but I love these lines from the Mary Oliver poem 'Sometimes'...
What piece of home decor would you rescue in a fire?
It would have to be one of the vintage pieces or something we have brought back from our travels as they are completely irreplaceable.
How did you get into the world of blogging and Instagram?
I started taking my previously ad hoc Instagram account seriously about a year and a half ago as a way of improving my photography skills and as a creative outlet. I am in the process of creating my blog which will focus on my passion for baking, my love of exploring the UK and of course flowers and gardening.
Which hashtag should we be exploring right now?
There are some really lovely hashtags out there at the minute, I particularly like #underthefloralspell for endlessly glorious flower images, #thewildnesstonic for beautiful images of wild adventures and #storetraits for beautiful shop fronts.
If you could read only one magazine for the rest of your life what would you read?
Favourite online shopping discovery?
Trouva - 150 of the UK's best boutiques all in one place. An absolute gem of a website.
Top tip offs - your three favourite Insta feeds that we should check out?
I'm going to go for four:
these are my current favourites but there are so so many more I could mention.
